An 18G (1.0 mm) post, our standard gauge. Wear it in the lobe, helix, forward helix, flat or tragus.
Fit depends on the size and shape of a piece as well as its gauge. A daith hoop, for example, is shaped for the daith and won't sit right in a helix.
6 mm is the standard fit. 8 mm gives extra length for a thicker ear area.
